Just realized I never posted this here… so yay! Something to waste space on your dashboard.
Well, let me tell you something, I had this feeling about 3 months ago. I received my “popularity” from comics. I was one of the few that created them. And then something happened, many more people started to take suit. And Equestria Daily is now flooded with comic requests (which is why they have 3 per post instead of 2 now). I quit submitting stuff there altogether now. But while this started to happen, and I could not get anything through. I decided, “what’s the point?” And I told my watchers on deviantART, that I am taking a leave on my work. I also posted the reason.
So I did what I said, I took a break from working on all my “art,” and haven’t checked deviantART in about 3 weeks. But one day, after a boring day of life, I remembered “Oh yeah! I have a deviantART.” And as you could probably imagine, I had quite a bit of messages… because devianWATCHes take up ALOT of messages. But there were a few other things that was quite unexpected. I had quite a few notes. The notes were a aftershock of how many comments my “leave” journal got.
So, what did all the comments and notes say? What in the world would people want to tell me? Well let me just summarize what they said. They told me that they understood the feelings that I was getting. They told me how they do not care how popular anything I create gets. It brightens their day. It gives them a good laugh, giggle, snicker in the times of their lives that they need it. They wanted me to continue my work. And well, it helped me realize that I should be creating this “art” for the people that will see it. No matter if they know who I am, how popular it will get, or whatever. So I came back with a bang. A new announcement. That I will begin working on Flash animations to get my true ideas across. And I hoped that they would decide to be a part of it, since they deserve the credit for getting me back into the “art” game.
Anyway, I am here to tell you what they told me, do not feel down in your work. Because it is YOUR work, and even though it may not get as much attention as other stuff, it still gives people a great thing to look forward to.
Thank you,
Brad.
